St Peter's abbey is an open house, in itself worth visiting. You can freely walk on the ground floor and enjoy the building hallways and the quadrangle with water well. In between heaven and earth, you are introduced to the story of the abbey.
You do not need to leave Ghent to image yourself in the South of France. In the garden behind St Peter’s Abbey you will find yourself amongst lavender and vineyards. It was reconstructed according to historical examples, built on the terraced gardens, which the pretentious abbot had created in the eighteenth century. This magnificent location is open to anyone who wishes to enjoy it.
